Please note that staging locations listed below the map are subject to change until the start of the parade. Numbers are painted on the pavement at each location on both sides of the road. All groups must be in position before 9:30am. Use 2 lanes for staging on both sides of Mooney Street. If it looks like we skipped your number, look on the opposite side of the road.
The Farmington Memorial Day Parade
The Farmington Memorial Day Parade has been a Farmington Area tradition since 1970, and continues to celebrate and honor our heroes almost a half-century later. The parade begins at 10:00 am on Memorial Day, near the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Orchard Lake Road. Parade participants stage on Mooney Road (just west of Orchard Lake Road), and travel one mile west on Grand River into downtown Farmington, where they are greeted by our Emcees at the reviewing stand at Farmngton Road where the entire event is recorded for later broadcast. The parade ends at Oakland Avenue, when a brief ceremony takes place at the Farmington War Memorial Monument in Memorial Park. The ceremony features local Honor and Color Guards, and high ranking officials from various branches of our military service.
The Farmington Memorial Day Parade Committee invites the community to join us in honoring our veterans, fallen heroes, active service men and women, first responders, and parade participants along Grand River Avenue, as well at the ceremony in Memorial Park. Afterwards, the community is invited to join marchers at the American Legion Hall for a luncheon sponsored by Weingartz. We look forward to seeing you in Farmington for this great family event.
Volunteers welcome!
The Farmington Memorial Day Parade is co-sponsored by Groves-Walker American Legion Post 346 and the Xemplar Foundation. The Parade Committee welcomes volunteers who would like to be part of the team that organizes and manages the event. If that sounds like you, contact Commander Marya Davis at the American Legion. Those interested in volunteering should contact Parade Chair Kevin Hammer to receive emails about upcoming meetings. We also encourage our local non-profit and civic organizations to march with us on Memorial Day. Groups interested in marching should register here. To learn more about the parade, please contact us through this web site. For information about the sponsoring organizations and their activities, please contact them directly.
