Hi - Here's some information about the upcoming Farmington Memorial Day Parade.
We need to remember with sincere respect those who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we sometimes take for granted
We need to keep in sacred remembrance those who died serving our country.
We need to never let them be forgotten.
We need to take a few moments from our day to honor them, and to thank their families for the incredible sacrifice they endure everyday.
You are receiving this email based on your past affiliation with the Farmington Memorial Day Parade. We wanted to be sure you knew about our new home online at www.memorialdayparade.us. We'll be using the web site this year to register and communicate with all of the groups that are marching in the parade. If your organization is planning to march with us this year, please visit the web site and sign up. There is no charge to march in the parade, although elected officals are asked to make a donation to the American Legion.
If you represent a group or organization that would like to march in the 2014 Farmington Memorial Day Parade, please click the button below to register. Feel free to forward this email to others who may need this information.
The Memorial Day Parade will be held on May 26 this year. We are already hard at work planning the event. If you would like to be part of the planning process, read on!
The Farmington Memorial Day Parade Committee will meet on Tuesday night, April 29 @ 7:00pm at the Groves-Walker American Legion Post 346 on Grand River Avenue in Farmington at 7:00pm. This is the third meeting of the group this year, and the number of attendees is growing. We're excited about that as the parade comes under new management this year, and new volunteers are welcome to join in supporting this great cause.
We are already hard at work on things like arranging flyovers, creating a ceremony to honor our veterans, and so much more. If you have some great ideas, want to be involved, and value community service, please join us. It takes a lot of people to make our parade an unforgetable experience, and welcome newcomers.
If you would like to be involved, but are not able to attend the meeting on Tuesday night, please contact Kevin Hammer or Richard Lerner.
The Xemplar Club of Farmington & Farmington Hills is proud to sponsor the 2014 Farmington Memorial Day Parade. We are an all-volunteer service organization for men and women who want to serve their community, develop leadership skills and enjoy new friendships. Our club is made up of individuals from all walks of life in the community including doctors, judges, business owners, retirees, city and school officials. Every dollar raised by our non-profit charity goes directly to supporting local programs. Each Memorial Day, our members hand out over 4,000 American flags to children along the parade route in Farmington. Beginning in 2014, we are also helping the American Legion to manage the parade.
Our members have always unselfishly served our community and worked to improve the quality of life for those less fortunate. Each year we raise and donate over $25,000 to more than 40 local charities, programs and organizations to benefit at-risk children, seniors and families. New members are always welcome, and we encourage you to consider joining the oldest service organization in our community. We meet each Wednesday when Farmington Public Schools are in session, from early September through mid-June, at 12:00pm for lunch at Cowley's Restaurant in downtown Farmington. The meetings are filled with fellowship, fun and education, with a different guest speaker presenting each week. We are a tax exempt (501c3) public charity. Donations to the Xemplar Club are tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law.
